Cats vs Robots
Cats vs Robots is an original animation I created starring Cat the cat and Robot the robot. Cat is a devious feline who, while digging around in a garbage heap, discovers Robot, a killer robot who was decommissioned for being nice. So, when Cat tries to get them to rob a bank for them, things don’t go as planned, and Robot misunderstands all of Cat’s instructions.
Cat is a character design that I've had for a while and always loved, so I wanted to base this animation around them from the start. Robot is their polar opposite both in personality and in looks, with a lighter color palette and a tall, lanky silhouette to them. The other residents of the city featured in this animation are the unfazed bank clerk and and the loving grandma, who is designed as a reference to hairless cats that wear sweaters to stay warm.
And finally, below is the storyboard that I created for the project, including a third visit to the bank which I cut to improve the pacing of the animation.
